The Weight of the Web

Having an online presence isn't enough — customers and closings must follow

Like consumers in almost every industry, homebuyers often use the Internet to shop. According to some estimates, more than 80 percent of all new homebuyers begin their search online. In addition, industry statistics and surveys show that Internet leads are the best and least expensive source for new clients. Builders and Realtors should not only understand how to create a Web presence but also how to maximize tha… Continue

How can builders in the higher price point luxury market sell homes, when there are so many lower priced homes for sale in the market?

Recently we had a builder send us a question regarding selling homes, when there are so many other lower priced homes in the market. I posed the question to a few members of our BuilderRadio faculty and thought you might like to see their comments.

Question: How can builders in the higher price point luxury market sell homes, when there are so many lower priced homes for sale in the market? The market has dropped so significantly that we can not sell homes at a profit. So long as there i… Continue

3 Little Piggys

Straw Piggy, Wood Piggy and Brick Piggy by Mason Lord of Hudson Valley Preservation

Once upon a time there were three little piggies. Straw Piggy, Wood Piggy and Brick Piggy. The three little piggies were neighbors, and all three wanted to remodel their homes. The problem was that none of the little piggies knew how to get started. They decided to consult with the wise advisor in the woods the lawyer B.B. Wolf.

Brick Piggy, since he was the smartest piggy, arranged the meeting and all t… Continue

Is Training an Expense or an Investment? - (A Six-Point Case Study)

Some businesses look at training as an expense, instead of looking at the long-term return. Why does one company seem to have all the success and others just seem to plug along? You may have more control about your success than you think. Your company does not exist without customers and more importantly your long-term success increases when you have customers that keep coming back.

Let’s simplify the thought process as well as use a case study. The case study in this article is based on LGI Ho… Continue

Using Social Networking to Expand Your Business

Social networking and blogs are new buzzwords that we are starting to hear about, a lot more often. The big question that many companies ask is “How does this apply to the housing industry”. As I meet and talk with housing companies and sales people, I am finding that many of the companies that are proactive in today’s changing market and maintaining their business growth, are the same companies that are staying on top of the new technologies.

The way consumers shop and buy is changing very rap… Continue

Jerry, thank you for the welcome. I'm in Michigan and have been selling new construction for six years. In addition to the past six years of sales, I have worked for residential builders for the past 20+ years as Closing Manager, Purchasing and Sales and Marketing Manager. I have seen a lot of Michigan builders go out of business in the past four years; many were my friends and mentors. I am still surviving. I received your information from Melinda Brody and that alone was worth the cost of her seminar :) Thank you for keeping us upbeat and positive in a world of negatives.

Thanks Jerry! Mindy says, "Hi back."

With the sun shining, temps above freezing, and the Red Sox winning preseason ballgames on NESN the world is going in the right direction! I'm looking forward to no snow, budding trees, and the freshness that Spring will bring! In the meantime, I'll explore BuilderRadio and prepare my business to become refreshed too! Rob

Jerry, I am just learning about BuilderRadio. My wife is a member of ActiveRain (she is a Home Stager in Topeka KS) and she has sent me an invite. I just never realized the benefit. I will take advantage of it. Why will you be in Topeka? I would enjoy meeting you. Michael Mitchiner Elite Real Estate
